Presented hither in a new 2K transfer from the best surviving 35mm element, this rarely seen British classic is available for home viewing for the very first time. Directed by Basil Dearden (The Captive Middle, Victim) and starring John Clements, Googie Withers and Raymond Huntley.

They Came to a City is a 1945 British motion-picture show directed by Basil Dearden adapted from a J. B. Priestley play. Information technology stars John Clements, Googie Withers, Raymond Huntley, Renee Gadd, A. Eastward. Matthews and others, and is notable for including a cameo invitee appearance by Priestley as himself. The plot concerns the experiences of various people who have come to live in their "ideal" urban center, and explores their hopes and reasons for doing and so. Many of the cast had also performed their roles in the original stage play. The film'south art direction was past Michael Relph.

Thursday is new BFI 1080P is advertised every bit "a new 2K transfer from the best surviving 35mm element " and the Blu-ray transfer is a shade inconsistent but looks fine with some nicely layered contrast. This is a wonderful philosophical fantasy that seems far ahead of its time. Sometimes the print seems better than at other sequences but generally I liked the 1080P in-motion. Information technology is dual-layered with a stiff bitrate and at that place are speckles and lite surface scratches but I didn't find them impinging upon the presentation. It is in around the ane.33:i aspect ratio. I loved my viewing in Hard disk drive because I was and then into the film.
